The Super Seniors Plaque is located just outside the changerooms by the bar. It has the names of many current, former and past members of the club, since it has been a feature of the Seniors closing lunch for at least 20 years!

WOLFVILLE CLUBS REPRESENTED AT NSSCA MEN & WOMEN PROVINCIALS

Three teams from our club played in the Provincials Stick Curling tournament Feb 13-16, at the Lakeshore Curling Club, Lower Sackville.
The teams consisted of Edie Lloyd/Jennie Bustin, Linda Nette /Sheila Stevens, and Betty Mattson/Audrey Dorey. They curled against curlers from across the province and had many great curling moments. Mattson /Dorey did compete in the Playoff round. They had a close game at 2-2 with the other team having the hammer in the 6th end winning the game 3-2.

Betty Mattson in her final year as Chair of the NSSCA, chaired the NSSCA AGM. She reported on the strong growth stick curling has had within the province and the country. 37 teams were participating in the event.

Congratulations to our Wolfville curlers for representing our club.

LADIES FUN SPIEL 2025

A fantastic day was enjoyed by all! The 32 ladies played two four-end games where an exciting closest-to-the-button playoff found the “Sweet” team emerging victorious and were awarded beautiful gifts provided by Trish Rafuse

The ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch featuring lasagna, fresh salads, and an array of decadent desserts.  After lunch, the exceptionally talented Sarah Pound delighted the ladies with her beautiful voice while leading them in a variety of songs.

The ladies had the opportunity to participate in a raffle for generously donated prizes, including a Lemon Meringue pie donated by Jennie Bustin, a Coconut Cream pie donated by Ellen Kennie, and a Wine Basket donated by Tony Stirling and Denise Pray.  Congratulations to the lucky winners - Carla Price, Jacinda Hatton & Diane Murphy.

A heartfelt thank you to organizer Audrey Dorey for her tireless efforts with this fun Event!

Sincere gratitude goes to those who generously donated food and assisted in the kitchen. Thank you to the bar and ice teams. All contributions made for a very enjoyable day!

WCC MEMORIAL SPIEL 2024

The WCC Memorial spiel was held Dec 7 ,2024 with 12 teams participating. This Spiel would not happen without the hard work of the committee Linda Nette-Food, Debbie Boutilier Food procurer, Fred Crouse-Auctioneer, Audrey Dorey-Draw, Chris Rushton Communications, Steve Mattson Registration and Betty Mattson Chair/MC.

The first teams were on the ice at 0830 playing 4 ends. Our memorial Recognizing and Remembering the contributions of WCC members who have passed began at 0930 with opening remarks from our President Joe Price and the lighting of the Memorial candle. Many wonderful tributes were presented to a packed house to honour, Honorary member Bill Thompson, Kathy Johnson, Wally Humphreys and Richard Foot.

The Ice Honorary Rock throwers were Ken Pick, Bev Girvan, Nelda Humphreys and Peter Selig saluted our members with the throwing of rocks on the sheets lined by our teams.

Twelve teams competed for the Memorial Plaque. Draw Chair Audrey Dorey threw in a few surprises on the end of the second game. Congratulations to the winners Team Boutilier-Brian Boutilier, Betty Mattson, Danny Silver and Geri Comeau. Awarded a prize for the best-dressed Team was Team Holland. They looked spiffy!

The food auction was great fun with competing bids. One of Ellen Stirling’s Coconut meringue Pie went for $100, Angela Merritts’s delicious 3 dozen homemade rolls for $45 and Connie Bishop’s homemade cream puffs $50. There were so many delicious goodies, cannot mention them all. Thanks to all contributors to our auction.

The money raised at this spiel will certainly assist in our Revitalization project chaired by Fred Crouse, and Project Manager Brian Boutilier. In 2025 it is planned to have a lift to the second floor and an accessible bathroom. Thanks, everyone for attending and contributing to the history of the Wolfville Curling Club!
